Planning the Guild Ball Kick Off! Project
Time for a new project. In my ongoing quest to find a game with an active group which meets on days that are convenient for me I came across Guild Ball. I know, it is not the most romantic way to decide on a game but I have enough games I’d love to play without opponents that my priority is to find one I can actually play.
I sat in with a group in October right as the Kick Off starter set was announced for November 25th. While my original choice of guild was the Fisherman’s Guild I decided that the starter set was the best way to get into the game.
Planning for the project is simple since the boxed set comes with two full teams. My goal is to paint all the miniatures from the box by the end of March 2016.
Brewers
I will paint the Brewers first.
- Tapper
- Hopper
- Friday
- Scum
- Spigot
- Stave
Masons
Of the two teams in the set I am more interested in the Masons. I’m painting them last so I can use them while I am painting the Brewers.
- Honour
- Harmony
- Brick
- Flint
- Mallet
- Marbles
Accessories
The boxed set comes will all the accessories needed to play the game which I find to be excellent design on the part of Steamforged Games. I really like that all the counters and tokens required for the teams are included and wish all future releases would follow this pattern. When I buy a miniature for X-Wing it comes with all the counters required.
There are a few things I want to add to the base set.
- 1/2 Inch wide measuring sticks from 4-10 inches.
- Measuring widgets allowing accurate measurement of curves
- A neoprene pitch.
Except for the pitch I plan on cutting the measuring widgets myself on my library’s laser cutter.
