BRIDGE AT “AL MUFF”

BRIDGE AT “AL MUFF”

We had a really good force on force game last night.

The scenario we played is here http://ambushalleygames.com/images/pdfs ... l-muff.pdf

Stan and Mike were the USMC and Ed and Peter were the Iraqi insurgents

The Americans have a convoy of 5 HMMWVs that have to get across the bridge and exit the table. There is a container blocking the bridge so the US player has to make a Troop Quality check to get past it (the first one Failed blocking the convoy).

Image

The follow on vehicles opened fire on the insurgents but the insurgents get lucky with their return fire knocking out a HMMWV (and in the process the medic became a casualty but managed to recover with his wound role -- a feat he would repeat many times over the course of the game!)

Image

A fog of war card give the insurgents a sniper team which is quite effective for the rest of the game. At about the same time the US drew the "Genaral Confusion" card which basically meant they could only react until they rolled a 5+ (on a D6) at the end of a turn.

Image

Another lucky shot for the insurgents and an HMMWV goes up in flames -- we decided this negated the night rules for any targets within 4" of the wreck.

Image

The lead HMMWV finally gets unstuck and in the excitement tries to rush off the table at full speed, as it drives past the tall building the insurgents disable it with rifle fire and another insurgent group close assaults the crew capturing 4 Marines. At this stage an AAV arrives to try and get things moving again for the Marines.

The Americans finally get a HMMWV off the table but another one has got stuck in a narrow alley as it takes another route because of the wreckage blocking the main road.

Image

The US player managed to wipe out most of the opposition on the starting side of the river

Image

The Marines call down a "Danger Close" mortar strike on the building near the hung up HMMWV which only kills one insurgent but disables the HMMWV

Image

The end of the game -- we decided the US had suffered a farily major defeat but they would be able to get the survivors from the mortar strike back across the river.

In terms of points it was 9 points for the US and 69 points for the insurgents
