The first thing I want to do is decide what kind of force I want to create. This will help when comparing different manufacturer’s pricing schemes. It would also not do to start with one manufacturer and find out that I need to mix with an incompatible range to finish up my forces.
According to the folks at my club an infantry platoon is plenty for Troops, Weapons & Tactics. I think I’ll start with a rifle section before painting the platoon command and then the last two rifle sections.
- Platoon Command:
- Platoon Commander – Lieutenant w/ pistol
- Platoon Sergeant – Sergeant w/ rifle
- Batman – Private with a radio and rifle. (I think, will have to research this)
- Mortar Commander – Lance-Corporal w/ rifle
- Mortar 1 – Private w/ 2″ mortar
- Mortar 2 – Private w/ rifle
- Rifle Section (3)
- Section Commander – Corporal w/ sten
- 2iC – Lance Corporal w/ rifle
- Rifleman – Private w/ rifle (6)
- Bren Gunner – Private w/ bren
- Bren Second – Private w/ rifle
Broken down I need 8 rifles, 1 sten and 1 bren per section. For the platoon command I need 4 rifles, one which may need a radio, a 2″ mortar and an officer with a pistol. As I make notes on what manufacturer’s offer I’ll break things down by how many packs of what I’ll need to buy in order to field what I want.
